More Marquees in the News

When the Norwegian film The Last King opened at the Uptown in 2016, a marquee mention was made of actor Kristofer Hivju. He acknowledged it on Instagram, stating, "I know my last name is hard to pronounce but... He he!"

After the Uptown tweeted Anna Kendrick a picture of their marquee for the 2016 film The Hollars, she replied on Twitter with, "Oh my god I want to hate this, but I just don't." This was then picked up by numerous local publications.

Song Request

Musician Ryan Adams played at St. Paul's Palace Theatre for two nights in July 2017. A request was put on the Uptown Theatre marquee a few days beforehand for "On My Life," a song off of his 2015 EP Blue Light that he had never played live.

Adams was sent the picture on Twitter and stated (likely referencing the famous Uptown Bar), "Holy shit. Deep Cut! Also Famous @TheReplacements location. Also I once got so hammered I lost my glasses there. Good times." He also wrote on Instagram, "Someone sent me this on Twitter... Is this real? Would a crowd even know what song that was? Lol That song is fucking darksided I love it but wow...."

Adams performed the song live at the Palace on July 29, 2017.
